Thomas Moran
American artist Thomas Moran is known for his sweeping landscapes. He painted a number of pieces of the American West and travelled widely, both within the United States and abroad. After visiting England, he was greatly inspired by the work of J.M.W. Turner, and this piece certainly highlights the connections between the two artists, particularly his use of color and choice of subject.
