Lisa Krannichfeld

Krannichfeld’s work is influenced by her childhood experiences of growing up in a Chinese family while living in the American South. Her art intentionally depicts women in strong, often confrontational, poses, such as the one in New Skin, challenging art’s traditional view portrayal of women as passive subjects. Born and raised in Little Rock, Krannichfeld’s work can be found throughout the city, including her largest work, the Argenta Mural Project, which is painted on the side of the Esthetic Excellence Academy in North Little Rock.

She was the recipient of the Arkansas Arts Center (former name of the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts) Delta Award in 2018 for "New Skin" made from Chinese ink, watercolor, acrylic, paper collage and toned cyanotype on paper mounted on a board covered with resin. This silk scarf beautifully captures the colors of Krannichfeld's work.
