Marilyn da Silva

Contemporary artist Marilyn da Silva has described her sculptures as three-dimensional drawings, with a rich color palette created by her use of gesso and colored pencils. This piece focuses on the fragility of life, partly in response to the tragic events of 9/11. From the breakable eggs to the precariously balanced structure protecting them, da Silva captures the moment before the house of cards comes tumbling down, or perhaps holds strong.
