The Draught of Fishes Magnet
Carroll Cloar
Carroll Cloar was born in Earle, Arkansas in 1913 and is nationally recognized for his depictions of the American South. This particular work, now on view at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, shows a man wading in the lake with his fishing net. His bounty rests on the river bank, a visual collection of native Delta region species. Brim, perch, catfish, a turtle, even an eel lay piled in the painting's foreground, revealing Cloar's attention to detail and his fascination with life in the Delta. This magnet features the work in full color detail and comes on a story card with the complete image and credit line.
