Heart of Arkansas 12 x 12 Poster Print
Carmen Alexandria "Allie" Thompson
Heart of Arkansas, 2016, chine collé linocut print
At a very young age, Allie found her calling to artistic expression. Rooted in her family’s history, chaos, anxiety and uncertainty contributed to the themes found in her art. In her 2016 linocut, titled Heart of Arkansas, she chose to illuminate her love of Arkansas and its rich heritage. Allie’s dream was to share her art and teach aspiring young artists. Unfortunately, in 2020, she passed away from liver disease while obtaining her MFA at the University of Arkansas Walton College of Fine Arts. To honor her, the Carmen "Allie" Thompson Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by the Arkansas Young Artist Association (AYAA) every year. The proceeds from the purchase of this print will help fund scholarships for AYAA student artists.
