Elias Sime is a contemporary Ethiopian artist who layers a variety of materials together to create pieces that discuss the relationship, and sometimes the tension, between the new and the old, or between tradition and progress. His series, Tightrope, makes use of electronics components such as the keyboards in the piece shown here. This highlights the ever-growing connectiveness of our world through technology, while also showcasing the environmental harm caused by ever-increasing amounts of electronic waste.
